A Report On Computer-aided Mock Interpretation Of Documentary China Urban Rail Transit(excerpts)under The Guidance Of Schema Theory

The thesis is a report on C-E interpretation of the documentary of China Urban Rail Transit.In 2019,China Railway Group and its subsidiaries jointly planned and produced China Urban Rail Transit,which is the first documentary that reflects the achievements of China’s urban rail transit construction in a panoramic way and records the rapid development of urban rail transit in different areas of China.Scholars have applied schema theory to various fields,including cognitive linguistics,anthropology,artificial intelligence and second language acquisition.However,the study on computer-aided interpretation from the perspective of schema theory is still at its infancy.Against the background,the report uses two episodes of the China Urban Rail Transit as interpreting material to conduct a mock consecutive interpreting aiming at exploring the role of schema theory in computer-aided interpretation.The practice is launched based on following processes.First,after making literature review,the author mastered schema theory and understood the combination of schema theory and computer-aided interpretation.Second,computer-aided interpretating practice is conducted after full interpreting preparation.Third,the case study of the computer aided mock consecutive interpreting practice was made under the guidance of schema theory.Fourth,the function of schema theory in different stages of computer-aided interpretation are concluded.At last,the report is formed.Through the study of theory and examples,this report draws the following conclusions.First of all,the effective application of schema theory is helpful for interpreters to understand materials in computer-assisted interpretation,provides a direction for collecting background information in the preparation stage before interpretation,and help the interpreter predict the expression of the target text.Secondly,the application of theory can help interpreters obtain information in the process of memorizing,thereby saving interpreters’ time and reducing the pressure in the process of interpreting.Thirdly,in the post-interpretation process of computer-aided interpretation,schema theory is helpful for interpreters to produce higher quality interpretations,and also helps to establish new schemas.The study hopes to help more people understand the role of schema theory in computer-aided interpretation,further improve the application of schema theory in computer-aided interpretation,and provide guidance and reference for the possible problems and difficulties that may arise in computer-aided interpretation in the future.
