As one of the most important language skills,writing plays an important role in English teaching.However,under the background of the new curriculum standards and the requirements of the new college entrance examination,English writing teaching in senior high school is facing more challenges.In the theoretical research,most of the writing teaching research stays in the past background,and has not formed mature teaching experience or theory to be widely promoted.In the teaching practice,English writing teaching is stagnant or inefficient,and it is difficult to meet the requirements of writing objectives in the new situation.In particular,the second grade students in high school are in the key period of the formation of the English writing level in high school,and it is in urgent need for the guidance of the teaching methods that can overcome the disadvantages of English writing teaching and improve the students’ English writing ability.Cooperative learning is a way of organizational learning based on the interaction between students to achieve win-win learning after cooperation.On the premise of determining learning objectives,teachers set learning tasks,and students work together to complete learning tasks and achieve learning objectives.This study mainly studies and solves the following problems: 1.How is the current situation of English writing teaching in senior two? 2.How does cooperative learning apply to English writing teaching in senior two? 3.What is the effect of cooperative learning in promoting senior two students’ English writing ability?Therefore,based on constructivism and social interdependence theory,the researcher selects Class 7 Grade 2 of a senior high school as an experimental class and Class 8 Grade 2as a controlled class to carry out a 4-month action study of the application of cooperative learning in senior two English writing teaching.The research results found: 1.The teaching method in English writing teaching in senior two is old and boring.2.Changing the teaching method must be made.Cooperative learning has an important role in English writing teaching.Through conducting questionnaires,interviews,classroom observation,and pretest and post-testing in two classes,after the data is collected and analyzed,the research results show that: 1.Cooperative learning can be effectively used in the sophomore English writing teaching.2.Cooperative learning is of great significance in improving the English writing ability for senior two students.The researcher also introduces two lesson cases about cooperative learning in English writing teaching in senior two,providing some valuable advice for high school teachers on how to teach English writing.
