Since the COVID-19 outbreak,more and more traditional offline courses in international Chinese education have been forced to switch to online courses.With the development of online teaching activities,related problems gradually emerge,among which the phenomenon of "students’ inattention" is particularly serious.Through the investigation of teachers and students,the author found that the classroom learning atmosphere of online Spoken Chinese class is insufficient and there is less interaction,comparing with the offline class.The main goal of oral Chinese teaching is to cultivate students’ oral Chinese communication ability,especially focusing on students’ participation in class.If this phenomenon cannot be improved effectively,the teaching effect will be greatly reduced.Multimodal teaching is a teaching model developed from the theory of multimodal discourse analysis.Different from the traditional teaching model,it emphasizes stimulating students’ interest by stimulating students’ various senses,and comprehensively uses a variety of teaching methods to arouse students’ enthusiasm,which can be used to improve the problem of students’ inattention in online classroom.Multimodal teaching has been successfully applied in the field of foreign language teaching in China,but there are still few relevant teaching practices in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.This paper attempts to apply multimodal teaching mode to online oral Chinese teaching as a Second Language.This paper conducts a questionnaire and interview survey on online oral Chinese teaching among students and teachers.The survey results show that students have a high acceptance of the multimodal teaching mode,and they like the oral Chinese classroom with rich interactions and interesting contents and forms.Combined with the results of the survey and the characteristics of online Chinese spoken language teaching,firstly,the author proposed a multi-mode teaching model of "large window+small window+auxiliary window",and carried out multi-mode online teaching design based on Short-tearm spoken Chinese·Treshold·Volume 2.Then,the author used Tencent Meeting,We Chat and Rain Classroom platform for teaching practice,and evaluated the teaching effect by classroom evaluation forms and student interviews.It is found that the application of multimodal teaching mode in online Oral Chinese teaching has strong operability,and is able to improve students’ enthusiasm and interest in learning,and alleviate the problem of students’ inattention.Compared with the traditional teaching mode,the multimodal teaching mode is more popular among students.At the same time,we should follow the principle of modal selection and combination when using multi-modal teaching mode to carry out online teaching,so as to give full play to the advantages of multi-modal teaching mode.
