Study On The Practice Of "Symbiosis" Series Lacquer Painting

With a long history,Lacquer Engraving is a unique art form,which uses lacquer and ash as the main materials and engraving as the main technique.The carver uses different types of carving knives and skilled engraving techniques to create simple,clear lines and smooth surfaces,creating a "black and white" contrast between the lacquer and grey ground,with a corresponding contrast between the real and the imaginary,with the deep and inclusive quality of lacquer painting and the rhythm of woodcut prints.In the series of lacquer paintings for the graduation project "Symbiosis",the author uses the lacquer carving technique as the main object of creation and other lacquer techniques to create a number of lacquer carving works with the theme of "Symbiosis" and in line with contemporary aesthetic interests.This thesis can be divided into four main parts:First part,starting from the source of the creation of the lacquer painting "Symbiosis" series,analyses the reality that animals are facing,thus leading to the object of creation of the "Symbiosis" series.Second part,the artistic features of the lacquer carving process are explained from the perspective of the concept,production techniques and formal characteristics of the process.Third part,discussing the process of creating the lacquer painting series "Symbiosis".（1）The conceptualisation of the series from the perspectives of the creative background,creative elements,shape,colour and composition,and reflections on the problems encountered in the conceptualisation.（2）The characteristics of several commonly used lacquer techniques are analysed,showing the reasons for choosing the lacquer engraving process as the main creative technique for the "Symbiosis" series,and illustrating the use of the lacquer engraving process in the "Symbiosis" series in relation to specific works.（3）The practical process of the lacquer painting "Symbiosis" series is introduced in detail from the perspectives of material selection and practical steps.Fourth part,the differences between the traditional lacquer engraving and the "Symbiosis" series are compared and analysed,and the future development of the lacquer engraving process is considered.Study on the practice of "Symbiosis" series Lacquer Painting is intended to give new vitality to the traditional lacquer engraving process.And this study can also provide some new directions of thought for the future development of the lacquer engraving craft.In addition,the author has implicated the pursuit of protecting animals and building a harmonious symbiotic system between human and animals.
