| Deep learning is a critical and logical learning method that emphasizes knowledge construction,integration and transfer under the guidance of higher-order cognition.The quality of thinking is one of four core competencies of the English discipline,which refers to the ability to logical,critical and creative thinking.Deep learning helps cultivate thinking quality and promotes all-around human development.Teachers can optimize their English reading instruction by understanding the current state quo of high school students’ deep learning ability.The research focused on three main questions.What is the status quo of deep learning in English reading for high school students? What are the differences between different types of high school students in terms of deep learning ability in English reading? What are the factors that affect high school students’ deep learning ability in English reading? The author took 239 high school students as the research subjects and used SPSS 26.0 to conduct a statistical analysis of the survey data.This paper described deep learning from four dimensions and compared the differences in deep learning abilities by gender,grade,and academic achievement.The results of the study showed that high school students had an intermediate level of deep learning in English reading and there was a polarization between students.The female students were slightly better than male students in terms of deep learning application strategies due to their cautious and sensitive personality characteristics.According to the research conclusion,this study analyzed the reasons that influenced deep learning ability in high school students’ reading and tried to put forward some suggestions.Students were lack of communication and discussion in some classroom activities,which were monotonous and boring.There were fewer effective collaboration mechanisms between teachers and students.In teaching,teachers should pay attention to students’ learning process,encourage students to construct knowledge system,combine the classification of educational goals,skillfully use teachers’ questioning strategy,create a harmonious atmosphere,improve students’ interpersonal communication ability,be good at evaluation and cultivate students’ deep reflection consciousness. |
