| This paper is mainly divided into three parts about the study of Master Hongyi’s secular jurisprudence.The first part mainly discusses the formation background of Master Hongyi’s secular jurisprudence.The development of Chinese Lv zong has shown a trend from prosperity to decline,which is closely related to the implementation of Zen’s “the precepts of no phase”,the impact of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement and the “temple property” on the development of Buddhism,as well as the failure of Lv zong to meet the development needs of the times.According to the development tradition of Chinese Lv zong,Master Hongyi started from adapting to the root of Buddhism of the the masses,and carried forward Nanshan Lv zong.In his later years,Master Hongyi formed his thought of secular jurisprudence.The second part mainly discusses the main content of Master Hongyi’s secular jurisprudence thought from five aspects: the outline of precepts,receiving precepts,breaking precepts,repentance and giving up precepts.Master Hongyi emphasized that the four disciplines of precepts,body,behavior and phase,which govern the jurisprudence of all precepts.In the aspect of receiving precepts,Master Hongyi advocated that the first step is to develop a great bodhi mind,and then receive the precepts according to the division,so as to realize the true meaning of the precepts.As for the judgment of the severity of breaking the precepts,Master Hongyi thinks that the cause of crime is due to the three natures,but not due to the“Lack of Condition”.The two religions of “Enlightenment and Practice”have different judgments on breaking the precepts.According to the types of breaking the precepts,they can be divided into “Nature Precepts” and“Occlusion Precepts”.If they commit it,they can be divided into “Nature Crime” and “Occlusion Crime” In the aspect of repentance after breaking the precepts,Master Hongyi advocated the method of repentance.If you break a precept,you will always be clean.Due to the different root causes of the preceptors,there are two kinds of confession methods: rational confession and practical confession.In the aspect of giving up precepts,Master Hongyi analyzed and summarized the reasons for giving up precepts,and provided methods for those who had to give up precepts.The third part mainly discusses the characteristics of Master Hongyi’s secular jurisprudence thought from the aspects of overall Buddhism and historical development.Secondly,in accordance with the individual,it shows the characteristics of the attitude of being strict with the precepts and the practice method of giving priority to the interpretation of righteousness and paying equal attention to the acceptance.Finally,in the aspect of fitting in with the times,it shows the characteristics of connecting with Master Taixu’s “Humanistic Buddhism” concept of “fit truth” and “fit opportunity”,and the difficulty of “stealing precepts” with the development of the times.In a word,Master Hongyi’s idea of secular law was put forward to provide convenience for beginners of Buddhism and home residents,although Master Hongyi failed to achieve his goal because of his old illness.However,Master Hongyi’s spirit and practice of revitalizing the jurisprudence and carrying forward the jurisprudence are still enlightening for modern Buddhists to adhere to the precepts. |
