At the beginning of the 19 th century, some foreign compositions, such as Carmen by Georges Bizet or Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi, depicted the popular image of Gypsies with the story background of Spain.Spanish music began to be popular in Europe. As the most important traditional music in Andalusia, flamenco began to attract the attention of musicians.Joaquín Turina is one of the representatives of the Spanish national music school from the late 19 th century to the early 20 th century.Although his piano work Danzas Gitanas Op.55 is not long,it contains rich flamenco elements.First of all, this paper gives a brief overview of flamenco,Joaquín Turina and his works, which narrates the background of the work and proposes three elements of flamenco in the work. Then the author takes the Danzas Gitanas Op.55 as the starting point to try to explain the embodiment of flamenco elements through three aspects:tragic elements, dance elements and guitar elements,so as to better grasp the expression of flamenco style in performance. Finally, this paper analyzes the performance skills and the application of flamenco elements in performance in this work.Music performers and researchers can also deepen their understanding of Spanish national music works in this study,so as to better perform this work.
