| The National English Curriculum Standards of Senior High School(2017)has clearly put forward the concept of cultivating students based on the core literacy and the perspective of Activity-based Learning.The concept of Activity-based Learning guarantees the achievement of core literacy,and also provides theoretical guidance for senior high school English teachers on teaching.Senior high school English teachers’ recognition and application of the concept of Activity-based Learning have an important impact on the efficiency of classroom teaching,further affecting a new round of curriculum reform.Therefore,it is particularly essential to know English teachers’ recognition and application of Activity-based Learning.Based on this,under the theoretical guidance of Activity Theory and Bloom’s Taxonomy of Objectives,this research investigates the application status of Activity-based Learning in English reading class in Senior High school,and helps English teachers design classroom activities that closely related to the concept of Activity-based Learning.This survey takes 50 senior high school English teachers in Harbin as the research objects to investigate the recognition and application of Activity-based Learning through questionnaire,classroom observation and interview.And to analyze the factors that affect the application of Activity-based Learning.This research tries to answer three questions :(1)How is the recognition of English teachers on Activity-based Learning?(2)Whether the current classroom activities meet the requirements of Activity-based Learning or not?(3)Which difficulties do teachers have in designing classroom activities based on the Activity-based Learning? and what support do they need?The research results show that,firstly,English teachers in senior high schools have a high degree of recognition on the concept of Activity-based Learning,but there are still a few teachers who need to constantly update their teaching idea and learn to grasp the concept of Activity-based Learning;Secondly,the senior high school English teachers’ teaching activity in reading class,to a certain extent,meet the requirement of Activity-based Learning,but the activities in the application stage and innovation stage do not reach the standard of it,thus teachers still need to be trained continuously based on Activity-based Learning;Thirdly,there are many difficulties in the application on the concept of Activity-based Learning,such as the lack of guidance in teaching,the low enthusiasm in teaching and the lack of ability of teachers,which requires the support from experts,scholars and schools,as well as the continuous efforts of teachers themselves.Therefore English teachers can implement the concept of Activity-based Learning more efficiently in actual teaching. |
