Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most distinctive writers in The history of American literature.Poe’s works contain rich artistic features and deep concern for the living environment of human beings, which is also the reason why his works have always been popular.Poe’s novels involve various themes and show multiple levels of social forms, which make readers think differently and re-examine their environment, thus guiding human development.Poe’s works often with rich imagination, novel style, unique perspective, the splendid and nuanced portrayal of writing gives the reader a unique aesthetic feeling, let the reader has always been in a atmosphere of terror, tension, suspicion, curious, impressive, memorable,it is because of these characteristics, his constant pursuit of aestheticism. In Poe’s novels, people’s uneasy situation in the social transition period, the impact of the development of industrial society on people’s life, the psychological oppression caused by people, the double destruction brought by the spread of diseases to people’s body and mind, and the deep concern for people’s morality. This paper is composed of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The text part contains four chapters.Firstly, the thesis gives a brief introduction to Poe’s growth experience, family changes, career achievements and works creation, explains the influence of Poe’s life experience on works, and analyzes the relationship between The tragic experience of Poe in the process of creation and the theme of his works. The first chapter begins with the theme of "The Death of Beauty",in which Poe excelled, and analyses the danger posed to society at the time by the physical illnesses of women and the psychological illnesses of men.Poe was always adept at creating the ideal image of women in his writing, and his women were always perfect, virtuous and beautiful, but they could not escape illness, and despite their important role in life, they could not escape death, which illustrates the shock and trauma of Poe’s life experience with the loss of women. The relationship between men and women is also explored. It then goes on to illustrate the devastation that a range of male mental illnesses bring to family life and social security, reflecting Poe’s shift in care for people from the external to the internal, from the physical to the psychological. The second chapter analyses the specific manifestations of the pathological characteristics of male patients, mainly in terms of dual personalities and mythological archetypes. It begins with a detailed analysis of the entanglement between the personalities of the male manifestations, showing the complex relationship between man’s instinctive desires and the rules of society, with the lack of morality being an important cause of the complex relationship. This is followed by a tracing of the ’archetypes’ of these human desires to find the root cause of the sin and the path to redemption,so that the right remedy can be found for the moral redemption. The third chapter focuses on the artistic characteristics of Edgar Allan Poe’s unique artistic technique of summoning the thing that man fears most but cannot escape-death-and calling for moral redemption in the midst of fear. There is first a conceptual introduction to the structure of the invocation and the theory of effect, respectively, and then a unification of the similarities between the two that amplifies Poe’s artistic effect. It is also through the invocation of morality at various levels of the novel that the role of moral values in guiding life is reflected, not only explaining Poe’s artistic technique of "heresy",but also reminding people to pay attention to their inner psyche,to uphold the rules of society, and to adhere to moral boundaries. The fourth chapter summarises the aesthetic and social values of Edgar Allan Poe’s work as reflected in the above points, and in general outlines Poe’s concern for people and society in all aspects.Poe’s works embody the ultimate pursuit of art, practise the creative concept of aestheticism, and inspire the truth of moral redemption. It also shows that Poe had superior writing skills to successfully present the artistic techniques and connotations of his works to the readers, dispelling the misconceptions of previous critics about Poe and reflecting Poe’s advanced literary thinking and close concern for human existence.
