Remolding Of Concrete In Contemporary Art

Concrete,as a building material,has taken shape in ancient Egypt.With thousands of years of social development,by the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century,modern concrete has become an innovation in the construction industry with the tide of industrial revolution,and has been widely used in today’s society.In earlier time,this kind of material was just the primary need of western industrialization and urbanization,while it has completed the expansion and leap from the architectural field to the art field in the nearly 100 years since the 20 th century.The use of concrete is an expansion and transformation of contemporary artistic creation.With the gradual expansion of application scope,concrete material gradually form its own unique language and become an important part of visual art.This paper discusses the birth and development of concrete,and explains how it developed from an industrial product to an artistic material.This paper analyzes how concrete and contemporary art are misappropriated,transformed and extended,based on the evidence of artists at home and abroad who use concrete as materials to construct expressions.The relationship between their internal logics is deeply analyzed,and the connotation attribute of concrete in contemporary context is found out.Besides,the role of artists and their works of art in the process of concrete material remodeling is also discussed.
