| In today’s era of entertainment and information fragmentation,the rapid rate of forgetting has made memory even more important,and how to save memory effectively has become a question for art creators to consider.By its’ documentary’nature,the documentary film has the advantage of storage and reproduction and is conducive to shaping people’s memories,making it a logical choice for creators.However,how to present and construct a memory in documentaries has been a long-standing problem.Thus,this paper takes a sociological perspective on memory theory as the starting point for a study of documentary films,focusing on how memory is presented and reconstructed through the artistic creation of documentary films and the language of film making and a new interpretation of memory in images.This paper is an innovative combination of memory theory and documentary film creation,using the personal graduation work Lotus Blink and several outstanding documentaries as objects of analysis.The introductory chapter explains the significance and purpose of the research,clarifies the basic research ideas,and gives a general introduction to the inspiration,form and significance of the graduation work.The first chapter,which is based on a sociological theory of memory,emphasizes the connotation and specificity of memory in documentaries in the context of documentary creation and summarises the relationship between documentary creation and memory: documentaries can activate and reconstruct memory,and memory can enhance the creative value of documentaries.Further,the latter three chapters are the main focus of this paper,with specific analyses of three memory dimensions: memory subject,memory carrier and memory encoding.Chapter 2 focuses on how the subject is portrayed in documentaries and the different narrative perspectives that give more discourse to memory.The third chapter mainly introduces how to flexibly use memory symbols and memory stories as the objective material carrier in the documentary.Moreover,Chapter 4 analyses the construction of memory codes from documentary editing techniques and video technology.In the end,the paper concludes with a summary of the central points of the text,pointing out the shortcomings of this work and putting forward new hopes for the current situation of documentary production and new hopes for the current documentary creation. |
