Research On Xi Jinping’s Historical Thinking

The history of a country serves as it’s fundamental root,therefore,General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the study of history,paying attention to the use of history in his speeches on various occasions.This shows Xi’s profound historical wisdom and deep historical thinking.Since the eighteenth National Congress,the Chinese Communist Party led by Xi has been more effective in carrying out plans.Under Xi’s meticulous leadership and management,the country has witnessed historic development in all aspects.These achievements are undeniably related to Xi’s ability to learn from history and his good use of historical thinking methodology.Historical thinking,as one of the six scientific thinking methods advocated by Xi,has been weaved into the whole process of his governance and the construction of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era,both of which are prominently characterized by thinking about things in the process of historical development,summarizing positive and negative aspects of historical experience to understand the patterns of history and to envision the future trend.With Xi’s historical thinking as the topic,this paper focuses on what historical thinking is,how to adhere to historical thinking methodology,how to apply it,and the value and meaningfulness of its application.The paper is divided into five sections.In the first section,the author discusses the research background of historical thinking and its current status of research inside and outside China to identify the direction for this paper.In the second section,the author presents a general discussion on the definitions and characteristics of historical thinking and its relations with other concepts.In the third section,the author mainly discusses the application of Xi’s historical thinking in governance and the construction of new era and new thought theory to reflect the theoretical foundation of the historical thinking in the philosophy of history.In the fourth section,the author emphasizes Xi’s application of historical thinking methodology from three dimensions: evaluating historical figures,historical events,and historical periods to further highlight Xi’s application of his historical thinking methodology.In the fifth section,the author mainly discusses the value and the meaningfulness of the historical thinking to the exploration of Communist Party’s governance patterns,to the study of new thoughts,and to the modernization of China.
