Online volunteer community is a new development in the Internet era, which is not only the change of traditional organizational form and practice, but also the cognitive innovation of new things. The thesis chooses the online volunteer alliance in W City as the research object, employs the methods of Web Capture,semi-structured interview and participatory observation to collect data. With the assistant software Nvivo12 for qualitative research, the researcher try to put forward a new paradigm of understanding the emerging online community, namely community organizing as communication. From the perspective of organizing, members perceive the virtual online organization by metaphors of development, belonging and space;Meanwhile, the self-positioning of the organization bases on the debate between aloofness and worldliness in the context of ancient Chinese philosophy. From the perspective of narrative,it is not only a way to understand the online volunteer community, but also a way of its existence, including self-narrative,historical narrative and Jianghu narrative. From the perspective of community, the two dimensions of individual and relationship constitute this organism. The former involves self-identity recognition, motivation expression and definition of action;the latter refers to member relationship and connection among different spaces. As to practical significance, these findings provide some enlightenment for the public policies on voluntary service in the context of Internet.
