As one of the major projects benefiting people’s livelihood, urban transportation is closely related to people’s life. With the rapid development of urban modernization in China,a new era of urban traffic has arrived. The congestion problem faced by the development of urban traffic is also gradually highlighted and increasingly severe. As a worldwide problem, urban traffic congestion may lead to environmental, social and political problems if it is not dealt with effectively. At present,Taiyuan City of Shanxi Province is in the critical process of the central development of China, and it needs to deal with the relationship between traffic congestion and urban development in multiple dimensions. Therefore,it is of great research significance and practical significance to carry out research and analysis on the existing traffic jams, find out the causes of traffic jams, and put forward effective mitigation and congestion control strategies.Based on the references and the methods of questionnaire investigation and research, comprehensive consideration and analysis of Taiyuan city,Shanxi Province traffic, such as the structure and layout of the city limits, the urban scale development, structural change in the city, public transport services capabilities, private car ownership,Shared diversified factors, such as traffic in Taiyuan city in the new life in the regional planning and transformation, traffic as the core part of the urban construction of livelihood play an important role in people’s livelihood.Taiyuan,as a famous historical and cultural city, has many historical sites, among which part of the old city infrastructure is relatively old, urban road reconstruction is difficult;Taiyuan’s terrain is high in the east and low in the west, surrounded by mountains on three sides,so there are great limitations in the new urban planning. From a survey of the urban traffic design system,it can be seen that the traffic model of Taiyuan is more similar to that of Guangzhou,Guangdong Province(comprehensive, systematic and accurate traffic planning model). In the exploration of traffic congestion control in Taiyuan,it can be seen that the old intersecting network system and the traditional penetrating network architecture in Taiyuan seriously restrict the design and reconstruction of future urban road traffic. To be specific: Firstly, due to the constraints of new urban function expansion and the old road network system, the traffic supply and demand relationship has not been well solved.Second, because there is a limit to the growth of urban road length and redundancy, the contradiction between the supply of road capacity and the increasing demand for road traffic is becoming more and more prominent. Therefore,in the study of urban traffic congestion control,it is first necessary to clarify the road model, that is,the comprehensive, systematic and accurate traffic planning model; Then, the introduction of traffic network design, gripper on the administrative ability, enlarge the increase of traffic land traffic land supply, improve the level of city’s urban planning, fully carries on the balanced distribution of urban functions and dismantling, can effectively disperse the crowds and logistics in the areas of the city, for the urban traffic is orderly and balanced pattern is of important value. On this basis, combining with the excellent methods in the field of urban traffic management at home and abroad, sharing theory, practice theory, through the optimization of traffic layout, the development of public transport, promote the reform of marketization of transportation and other measures to improve and optimize the Taiyuan urban transport improvement strategy, meet all kinds of mass travel demand, give full play to the city’s traffic convenience and service.
