| People’s mediation plays an important role in grassroots social governance.With the establishment of diversified dispute resolution platforms across the country,the advantages of the people’s mediation system have been increasingly brought into play,and more and more conflicts and disputes have been resolved at the grassroots level.At the same time,the work intensity of people’s mediators is also increasing.In the face of complicated contradictions and disputes and various parties to disputes,people’s mediators can work in an orderly manner,and it has become a topic worthy of research to understand people’s mediators’ coping methods and behavioral logic in their daily work.In the work practice of people’s mediators,using the advantages of gender matching to promote the process of resolving conflicts and disputes is an effective working method and coping skills.Therefore,this research focuses on the influence of gender matching on the mediation results of grassroots conflicts and disputes,in order to promote the precision and individualization of people’s mediation services,and improve the quality and efficiency of people’s mediation services.This research takes people’s mediators as the research object and uses the“Longjiang Mediation” platform as the research unit to select 329 people’s mediators and 7,144 conflict and dispute cases successfully mediated by them.The core issue of the influence of the gender matching of the parties to the dispute on the mediation results of primary conflicts and disputes.Combining the actual scene of people’s mediation,determine the three key points of “the influence of the gender of the mediator on the results of the mediation”,“the influence of the gender matching of the mediator and the applicant on the results of the mediation” and “the mediator’s personal characteristics in the mediation effect” research problem.Then,the selection-based sampling method and generalized exact matching are used to solve the problem of unbalanced sample distribution and self-selection in the data.Construct logit models,Tobit models,and two-part models of merged data for regression analysis.And conduct the heterogeneous analysis of cases of different dispute types.The empirical results show that:(1)The gender of the mediator has an impact on the outcome of the mediation.When the mediator is male,the probability of successful mediation is higher,but the mediator’s gender has no significant influence on the length of mediation and the amount of the agreement.(2)The gender match between the mediator and the applicant has an impact on the outcome of the mediation.From the perspective of increasing the possibility of successful mediation,the order from high to low is male mediator-male applicant,male mediator-female applicant,Female mediator-male applicant,female mediator-female applicant.In cases of different dispute types,the impact of gender matching is different.In general,in marriage and family disputes,road traffic disputes,and neighborhood disputes,the female mediator-female applicant gender matching combination mediation results are better;In damages disputes,the gender-matched combination of male mediator and male applicant has better results.(3)The working years of mediators play a moderating role in the influence of gender matching.The longer the mediators have engaged in people’s mediation work,the smaller the influence of gender matching on the mediation results.The political profile of the mediator plays a moderating role in the influence of gender matching.The political profile is the mediator of the Communist Party of China members,and gender matching has less influence on the mediation results. |
