Research On Offensive Tactics Of Japanese Women’s Basketball Team From 2017 To 2019

With the development of basketball,the offensive system of basketball is also evolving.In the international women’s basketball games,different countries have different histories and cultures,also different players,different basketball tactical concepts,and different basketball offensive systems.The Japanese women’s basketball team has been a surprise these years as a rising force in Asian women’s basketball.As a team with a different offensive system from other countries,Japan women’s basketball team has won four consecutive titles in the recent four Asian championships,which fully demonstrates their strength.As the main opponent of China women’s basketball team in the world,the research on the offensive system of Japan women’s basketball team is an important part of the scouting for preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games.Therefor,this study takes the Japanese women’s basketball team in the 2017-2019 offensive system as the research object.Through the methods of literature,expert interview,video analysis,and mathematical statistics research methods,this paper analyzes and summarizes their offensive system from the application of Japanese women’s basketball team in the competition,mainly refining its offensive principles,offensive lineup,and offensive concepts.The results are as follows:(1)Under the guidance of head coach Tom Hovasse’s offensive philosophy,the Japanese women’s basketball team’s lineup normally formed like this: point guard who has the quick speed and great passing ability run the whole team,shooting guard and smaller forward who are excellent in catching and shooting,big men who can shoot and coordinate to create more space.Everyone on the team has good shooting ability.(2)In the offensive system of the Japanese women’s basketball team,fast break and transition offense are the most outstanding strength of the Japanese women’s basketball team.Good ability to predict and possess the ball is the fundamental of starting fast break.When the fast break starts,their point guard can receive the ball as soon as possible,and the forwards go down quickly and start the attack is the main feature of their fast break.Their transition is mostly driven by the pick and rolls between ball-handler and the trailor.(3)In set plays against man-to-man defense,the Japanese women’s basketball team’s position formation is "4 outside and 1 inside".It mostly comes to pick and roll offense and off-ball screens..In all their offense against man-to-man defense which is driven by the pick and rolls,they always try to create opportunities for their forward shooters.In their set play against zone defense,they will change their formation changes to "1-4" and set a lot of off-ball screens.Every player can shoot three-points when they get good looks.They have multiple choices for offense and everyone makes threats.The conclusions are as follows:(1)From the use of offensive tactics of the Japanese women’s basketball team from 2017 to 2019,we can see that the offensive concept of the Japanese women’s basketball team is "fast,accurate and dynamic",and "three points for all members,multiple shots and accurate shots" is the main guiding ideology of the Japanese women’s basketball team at the offensive end,which is the opportunity integration of the Japanese traditional basketball concept and the American basketball concept.(2)Tactically,the Japanese women’s basketball team main offensive principles from 2017 to 2019 are as follow: the principle of quick offense,which means fast break is always the priority of this team;the principle of better spacing,which means perimeter players are more dominant in this team;the principle of smaller squads,which mean they need to take mismatches;the principle of ball sharing,which mean every player should be willing to sacrifice sometimes.(3)Under the guidance of the offensive philosophy,the Japanese women’s basketball team follows the offensive principles and the reasonable lineup,each position has a strong three-point shooting ability.Their offense is highly targeted and flexible.
