| As the main body of innovation,universities participate in regional innovation activities and generate scientific knowledge by increasing R&D investment.Scientific knowledge is used in the region through knowledge sharing,knowledge commercialization,industry-university-research cooperation,and talent flow,thereby driving the improvement of regional innovation levels.At the same time,due to the uneven development of the economic development level,technological development level,and institutional environment of various regions in my country,the scientific research input of universities,governments,enterprises and other subjects is also obviously regionally different,which has led to the overall appearance of the eastern part of my country’s regional innovation output.Higher,lower status in the Midwest.Therefore,analyzing the impact of university R&D investment on my country’s regional innovation output is conducive to promoting the balanced development of regional innovation.This paper first analyzes the characteristics of university R&D investment,and finds that the R&D investment and personnel investment of universities in all regions of our country are increasing,and the role of universities as the main producers of knowledge in stimulating regional innovation vitality is getting more and more attention.Secondly,using patent applications,number of grants and innovation index to measure and analyze the characteristics of China’s regional innovation output level,the results found that my country’s overall innovation output level has increased significantly,but there are large differences in regional innovation output.In general,The innovation output of the eastern region is much higher than that of the central and western regions.Finally,using the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2001 to 2016 as the research sample,the fixed effects model is used to investigate the impact of university R&D investment on regional innovation output,and further study the regional differences.The results show that my country’s university R&D investment has a significant role in promoting regional innovation output.The input of university R&D personnel has a more obvious effect on regional innovation output than the investment of funds.At the same time,there are regional differences in the impact of university R&D investment on my country’s regional innovation output.The input of university R&D personnel has a positive effect on the eastern,central,and western regions,but it has the most significant effect on the central region.University R&D investment has a stimulating effect on the eastern and western regions,but it has the most significant effect on the eastern region.However,for the central region,due to the imbalance between R&D expenditure and personnel input,the level of regional innovation cannot be effectively improved.By using a spatial measurement model to analyze the spatial spillover effect of university R&D investment,the results show that university R&D personnel input not only significantly promotes the innovation output of the region,but also has a significant positive spillover to the regional innovation output level of neighboring regions.Effect,promote the improvement of the innovation level in the surrounding areas,thereby driving the improvement of the overall innovation level. |
