| With the improvement of people’s living standards and the internationalization of higher education,studying abroad has become a choice for more families and students.Many students have gone abroad to learn advanced knowledge and experience in different countries,while experiencing a different cultural atmosphere.As a special group of sojourners under a cross-cultural background,international students’ learning adaptability directly affects whether they can complete their studies successfully,and even affects their psychological state.This research focuses on the learning adaptation status of Chinese students in New Zealand,combining cultural shock theory,constructivist learning theory and existential education theory,from the perspective of pedagogy,trying to answer and analyze the following three questions: New Zealand Chinese students’ learning adaptation status and differences Educational factors have a dynamic impact on the learning adaptation process of Chinese students in New Zealand.From the perspective of international students,it proposes strategies to improve the learning adaptation of Chinese students in New Zealand.Learning adaptation in a cross-cultural context is a complex and dynamic process.This study hopes to have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the learning adaptation status of Chinese students in New Zealand.Therefore,this research adopts the method of combining quantitative and qualitative research,finds factors that affect the learning adaptation of foreign students in literature research and questionnaire survey,and uses interview and observation methods to conduct in-depth analysis of relevant educational factors.The findings of this study are as follows: First,the learning adaptation status of Chinese students in New Zealand is at a moderately higher level.Learning adaptation shows two characteristics: the individual learning adaptation level is polarized,and the initial stage of learning adaptation level changes significantly.Second,eight educational factors such as curriculum setting,learning assessment,and classroom teaching affect the learning adaptability of international students.Third,educational factors have the characteristics of diversity,indirectness and mutuality in the influence of foreign students’ learning adaptation.Based on the current situation of Chinese students’ learning adaptation in New Zealand and the analysis of educational factors,the learning adaptation level of international students can be improved from five aspects: changing classroom learning concepts,changing learning methods,and persisting in English learning etc. |
