Over the past 40 years of the reform and opening up,the collective knowledge assets in the form of "knowledge stock" and "knowledge flow",which are mutually specialized,complementary and strengthened,can play a driving role of technological innovation under the open social trend,especially a talent-driven role.However,China's population structure is aging continuously and shows a significant regional disparity.In the era of knowledge economy,talents are strategic resources to promote regional economic growth and play a key role in promoting regional technological innovation.Comprehensively measuring regional disparities from different dimensions and finding a development path to promote regional technological innovation,which is conducive to cope with population aging scientifically by technological innovation for China.Firstly,to measure population aging,an evaluation index system including development degree,development speed and development quality is constructed,not only considers the development level of population aging in quantity,but also pays attention to the impact of social economy.Secondly,Panel clustering model is applied to classify regional types,and regional disparities are analyzed by combining entropy weight TOPSIS method.The empirical research results show a significant regional disparity between four regions in three dimensions,which is mainly manifested on its inconsistent development degree,asynchronous development speed and uneven development quality.Moreover,the evolution trend of four regions is basically the same in terms of development degree and development quality,but the change in development speed is not synchronous.What's more,the deepening of development degree in a population aging area has not reduced development quality,while an area with rapid development speed has poor development quality.Thirdly,based on 30 provinces panel data in China from 2007 to 2017,population aging grading index is used as the threshold variable to calculate the heterogeneous threshold effect of population aging on regional technological innovation.The results shown that: Four population aging regions have presented some significant development characteristics on regional technological innovation.The development speed of population aging has a linear inhibitory effect on regional technological innovation.The development degree and development quality of population aging have a heterogeneous threshold effect on it.The single threshold effect of development degree exists in deep aging regions;development quality only has a u-shaped effect in shallow aging region.
