A Study On The Agenda Setting Of Mainstream Media And Its Impact On College Students In The Event Of Major Public Crisis

Major public crisis events are public events of wide and deep impact,such as the new crown epidemic in early 2020,which is a worldwide impact event,serious public crisis events that seriously affect public health and cause many secondary social problems.However,when major public crisis events occur,society tends to produce structural pressure which leads to the weakening of normal social communication function,and people are more likely to believe rumors of unknown origin.With the development of the Internet age,the public has more channels to discover information.Today’s college students have grown up almost in sync with the Internet,and their ability to gather information and access it,combined with their knowledge and sensitivity to change,tend to pay more attention to major public crises.Therefore,the mainstream media need to strengthen the influence to the university student community through the agenda setting,to promote the university student community to its trust and support,in order to stabilize the entire social mood.Based on the above background,this paper will focus on the major public crisis events in the mainstream media agenda-setting and the background of the mainstream media reports on the impact of college students.First,content analysis was conducted using the China Youth Daily as a sample through the Content analysis.Taking the three stages of crisis transmission as the research time clue,this paper analyzes the agenda setting of the mainstream media reports during the epidemic symptom period,the epidemic outbreak period and the epidemic normalization period,mainly from the number and frequency of the report,the report form,the report content,the report type,the report emotional tendency to carry out the empirical analysis.Secondly,it analyzes the impact of mainstream media’s agenda setting on college students from three aspects.First,it analyzes the reading and viewing numbers of China Youth Daily’s wechat account,analysis of the three stages of college students to mainstream media attention and change;Second,through analyzing the agenda setting of the impact list of wechat public accounts in colleges and universities during the epidemic warning period,epidemic outbreak period and epidemic normalization period,we can judge whether the China Youth Daily public accounts have achieved good agenda interaction with the groups of college students,to analyze whether the mainstream media has a better impact on the college students;Thirdly,through the questionnaire survey,the paper analyzes the changes of the number and frequency of the report,the form,the content,the type and the emotional tendency of the report of the college students to the mainstream media under the new crown epidemic situation,to further provide data support for the impact of mainstream media agenda-setting on college students under major public crisis events.According to the empirical analysis and previous theoretical research,the main media agendasetting has some advantages,but there are also some problems.The main problem is that there is no obvious difference in the frequency and quantity of major public crisis events reported by the mainstream media The agenda interactive topic has the discrepancy as well as the report sentiment tendency one-sidedness and so on.Based on this,this paper puts forward some countermeasures,such as increasing the number of reports,cultivating deep reports,diversifying the forms of presentation,strengthening the interactive content of agenda,changing the emotional tendency of traditional reports,building new media platform and cultivating the mass media literacy of college students.
