The education of political science is vital in the college education system,as it plays an important role in shaping both values and the outlooks for teenagers’ life.Since the media contact could be able to affect the political thinking ability of college students through the political information contact,it has a critical influence on the work of political science education. At the National Publicity Conference,Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the CPC,emphasized that the work of publicity should be able to help the teenager to take the right first step in their life during their critical period where the values of their lives are formed. However, the low participation of online media, political alienation and non-consumption of political news indicates an unsatisfied political consumption situation. This research will focus on figuring out whether this avoidance of political news is or not a common phenomenon and some factors that might affect political news avoidance behavior. The first part defines the avoidance behavior in the political news consumption, especially for college students, which also gives a brief overview of political news consumption and news avoidance behavior, starting from a realistic background.Referring to the SOR model, the second part extracts key factors from the results of in-depth interviews and text coding. Then, the psychological variables are identified as information burnout and psychological resistance,so that it could distinguish between normal and abnormal political news avoidance behavior.Based on the above assumptions, this research constructs a theoretical model of factors that affects college student’s political news avoidance behavior. For the data collecting and analysis,a questionnaire is designed and sort out to obtain the data of core variables from samples. Then, statistical methods, regression analysis and structural equation modeling will be used in turn to analyze the figures to verify the hypothetical model. The result shows that there is a moderate degree of existence of information burnout, psychological resistance, and other political news avoidance behaviors in the group of college students. The logical cation path could mainly be defined in two ways, the first way is “news low quality/information overload/politic interest-information fatiguepolitical news avoidance behavior”,another way is “news low quality/politic trustpsychological resistance-political news avoidance behavior”.Based on the above outcomes,to reduce college students’ political news avoidance behavior, the article puts forward targeted suggestions on reducing information overload and improving political interest, political trust and news quality. Some other suggestions and prospects for future research of political news avoidance behavior are also given at the end of this research.
