In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s economy,China has become the second largest economy in the world. However, the rapid economic growth model has brought a series of problems of excessive consumption of resources and serious environmental pollution. At the same time, the corruption problem will directly affect the government’s regulatory policies, thus affecting the environmental problems.China is currently the largest carbon dioxide emitter, and its carbon dioxide emissions are increasing year by year. With the increasing global warming, energy conservation and emission reduction has become a common problem in the world. And the secondary industry accounts for a large proportion in China’s national economy, which leads to the problem of excessive high-energy consumption and emissions, which is particularly serious. The nineteen party proposed to build a market-oriented green technological innovation system. In order to fully implement the nineteen spirit of the party and the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s concept of green low carbon development,it is imperative to save energy and reduce emissions.Based on the sample data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2003 to 2017,this paper mainly studies the relationship between corruption, environmental regulation and carbon emissions, and analyzes the impact mechanism between corruption, environmental regulation and carbon emissions.Firstly, the direct effect of corruption on carbon emissions is explored according to the Environmental Kuznets curve(EKC curve),and then the environmental regulation is introduced into the model to further analyze the mediating effect of environmental regulation on corruption on carbon emissions; At the same time, foreign direct investment(FDI),income level and technological innovation also play a certain role in the process of corruption affecting environmental regulation or environmental regulation affecting carbon emissions. This paper analyzes the moderating effect of these variables in the intermediary model, and finally analyzes the joint impact of corruption and environmental regulation on carbon emissions through the interaction of corruption and environmental regulation,The overall analysis of corruption, environmental regulation, carbon emissions and FDI,income, technology and other factors between the mechanism.Based on the extended EKC model, this paper analyzes the direct effect of corruption on carbon emissions and the mediating effect of corruption on carbon emissions through environmental regulation, and finds that there is a complex influence mechanism among corruption, environmental regulation and carbon emissions, and corruption can directly promote carbon emissions,It can also affect carbon emissions by strengthening environmental regulation.Environmental regulation plays a mediating role in the process of corruption affecting carbon emissions. In the process of mediating effect, corruption promotes environmental regulation, and the level of corruption will improve the intensity of environmental regulation.Environmental regulation has a partial mediating effect in the process of corruption affecting carbon emissions. The EKC model of environment is established in China. There is an inverted U-shaped relationship between economic development and carbon emissions.Economy has a greater impact on carbon emissions, which is also the main factor affecting carbon emissions. In the moderating variables,FDI,technology and income will also affect the process of corruption affecting environmental regulation and carbon emissions.Technology plays a positive role in the direct process of corruption affecting carbon emissions. The higher the level of technology, the stronger the promotion of corruption on carbon emissions;FDI plays a reverse regulatory role in the mediating process. The higher the FDI,the less the promotion effect of environmental regulation on carbon emissions; The higher the income, the stronger the promotion effect of corruption on carbon emissions, and the greater the promotion effect of environmental regulation on carbon emissions. Then, the practical significance of the research is analyzed, and feasible suggestions are put forward for the construction of ecological civilization in China. |
