Since ancient times,the Chinese nation has paid special attention to self-cultivation,taking self-cultivation as the prerequisite for people to govern the country and the world.The moral cultivation method of self-cultivation has been deeply imprinted in the blood of the Chinese sons and daughters,shaping the unique national character and soul quality of the Chinese nation.Especially the Confucian classic "The Analects",which has an important position in the history of Chinese civilization,is highly respected for self-cultivation.The self-cultivation thought contained in the book provides a systematic and complete self-cultivation principle and method for individuals to perfect themselves,shape ideal personality,and promote people’s free and all-round development.General Secretary Xi Jinping often quoted the words in the "Analects" to warn us to strengthen moral cultivation,strictly cultivate our body,consciously draw nourishment from the excellent traditional Chinese culture,and repeatedly emphasized the important task of achieving ideological and political education in colleges and universities.Therefore,in-depth research on the self-cultivation thoughts in "The Analects" will not only help us to enhance our knowledge and understanding of the excellent Chinese traditional culture,promote the national spirit and inherit cultural genes;but also lay a foundation for the creative development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.Cultural heritage,provide methods and paths to realize the benign combination and common development of traditional culture and modern ideological and political education.This article is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction.This part mainly introduces the reason and significance of the topic research,the research situation of domestic and foreign experts and scholars on the self-cultivation thought and ideological and political education of "The Analects",as well as the ideas,methods,innovations and shortcomings of the topic research.The second part mainly introduces the purpose,content and method of self-cultivation in "The Analects".The purpose of self-cultivation is to know shame,show courtesy,and perform benevolence,be able to discern honor and shame in daily life,understand the rules,and consciously practice benevolence.The content of self-cultivation is mainly discussed from four aspects.In the individual’s self-study,we must strive to cultivate oneself and peace of mind,practice filial piety in the family,respect loyalty and courtesy when serving the monarch,and in social interactions.Behave with degree.In addition,some typical methods of self-cultivation are listed: aspiration,introspection,reform,practice,and a concise generalization and understanding of the self-cultivation thought in the Analects from a macro perspective.The third part elaborates the positive influence and contemporary value of the self-cultivation thought in "The and political education and based on traditional self-cultivation ideas,this article puts forward several suggestions for the development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.Firstly,by enriching the theoretical knowledge of self-cultivation,clarifying ideal goals and pursuing,and cultivating self-cultivation ability to enhance individual moral cultivation;secondly,we must promote the moral style of self-cultivation,inherit the ethical norms of filial piety and love relatives,promote the moral norms of prudent words and deeds,and learn The unparalleled way of life,optimize the self-cultivation environment of colleges and universities;finally,by visiting traditional cultural sites,launching self-cultivation theme classes,creating self-cultivation education platforms,and conducting self-cultivation research activities,the unity of knowledge and action is realized,and the effect of ideological and political education is
