Research On The Internet Rumor Phenomenon Under COVID-19 Epidemic Background

Since the 21 st century,Internet rumors as a new thing,have been paid attention by scholars.Internet rumors have gained wings of acceleration under the help of the Internet.The two characteristics of the COVID-19 epidemic itself and the convenience brought by the progress of Internet technology make the network rumors raging under the background of the COVID-19 epidemic,which interfere with the normal life of the public.This research takes the COVID-19 epidemic as a case and consists of four parts.Using relevant knowledge of sociology,this research carefully discusses the work related to Internet rumors under the background of such public health events.First of all,the research should make a definition of net rumors and draw four special points: namely,large number,diverse spreading subjects,strong reversal of information content,and complex spreading purposes.Based on the analysis of 200 representative Internet rumors during the epidemic period,five types of Internet rumors were classified,namely false type,out of context type,the deer for the horse type,exaggerated type,malicious tampering type.Then,the paper studies the generation and spread of Internet rumors and finds that the risk of the epidemic and people’s special psychological conditions are the important factors for the birth of Internet rumors,online and offline communication mode is the characteristic of network rumor communication mechanism.This research focus on the causes of Internet rumors are analyzed during the outbreak.It is found that the communication beyond the body,the superficiality of the network social space,the promotion of the status of transmitting experience,the lag of the relevant rumor refuting information,the enhancement of media sociality,the promotion of relevant opinion leaders and the low educational background of citizens all lead to the spread of network rumors.The research summarizes the three major influences of network rumors: that is,they affect the normal order of people’s real social life,the destruction of public credibility has brought challenges to the management of network society.In the face of the adverse effects brought by Internet rumors,combined with their causes,this study puts forward four suggestions.First of all,we should improve the relevant laws and have laws to follow.Secondly,perfect network rumor supervision and information transparency system.Then we should adopt the combination of grid management and network governance.Finally we need to improve national literacy and strengthen relevant professional ethics.Everyone should become the controller of the cyber world,and jointly maintain a good atmosphere in cyberspace.
