The Plight Of Children With Autism Caregivers Analysis And Intervention Study

The cause of autism is unknown and the disease is hard to cure.Caregivers of autistic children always need to provide daily care for autistic children,which puts a lot of pressure on caregivers and families.Autistic children are subsidized by the government with basic material security,but there is no other support for caregivers.This group should be concerned.During the internship in J county rehabilitation center,the author figure out the basic conditions and needs of children with autism and caregivers by observing and interviewing,carries on the summary and the analysis under the theory of social support,mainly includes:demand of emotional relief,education,sharing,caring and economic needs,difficulties about treatment and rehabilitation,heavy financial burden,high caring pressure,negative emotional distress and insufficient formal support.Therefore,social work methods such as community work and group work are used to provide corresponding help to caregivers of autistic children through lectures,publicity,and formation of mutual aid groups,so as to solve problems for caregivers of autistic children,establish and improve social support networks,and enhance the ability of self-help.Through the process of evaluation,result evaluation and self evaluation,the author found that process of practice activity object is relatively single with short time,social workers are lack of experience,caregivers’ lacking understand of social work,so for the needs of caregivers,put forward targeted suggestions on the difficulties.It is suggested to start from two aspects of formal support subjects and informal support subjects.In terms of formal support subjects,the government should improve policies and perfect the security system for autistic children,and increase the support for the life and rehabilitation of autistic children.To establish and improve the community support network and help the caregivers of autistic children to broaden the social support network;In terms of informal subjects,caregivers take the initiative to improve the neighborhood relations and promote the harmony of neighborhood relations;The media should also take the initiative to pay attention to the caregivers of autistic children,so that the public can have a better understanding of the caregivers of autistic children,and strive for the support of all sectors of society.
