As an integral part of the school’s grass-roots organizations,subject section group is the basic unit for the school to implement teaching management and carry out teaching activities.It is also an important organization to give full play to the teaching collective wisdom,carry out teaching research and deepen teaching reform.It is of great significance to strengthen the teaching and research work,especially the construction of subject groups,for the implementation of school teaching work,the promotion of teachers’ professional development,the improvement of curriculum implementation level and the quality of school education and teaching.In order to understand the current situation and shortcomings of subject group construction in primary schools,this paper takes three Township Central Primary Schools in Qingcheng District of Qingyuan City as samples.Using the methods of questionnaire and interview,this paper investigates the organizational setup and function construction,teaching and research activities construction,teaching staff construction,organizational mechanism construction,etc.,and analyzes the data combining with the structural function theory,learning community theory and teachers’ professional growth theory.It is found that there are some problems in the construction of subject group in primary school,such as imperfect organization function,lack of diversity of teaching and research activities and unsatisfactory effect,unbalanced structure of teachers,weak awareness of professional development,and imperfect organizational mechanism.Therefore,combined with the construction experience of excellent mathematics subject group,this paper puts forward the following strategies:overall arrangement,optimizing the distribution of organizational functions;innovating forms to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and research activities;professional guidance,strengthening the construction of teaching staff;deepening reform and improving the organizational mechanism.
