A Narrative Study Of Novice Early Childhood Teachers’ Professional Identity | | Posted on:2022-12-20 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Y H Tang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2507306749979219 | Subject:Pre-school education | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The report of the 19 th National Congress points out that "education for young children" has pointed out the direction of preschool education in the new era and new situation.The success of preschool education depends to a large extent on the quality and competence of early childhood teachers,and only by constantly promoting the professionalism and competence of early childhood teachers can we provide adequate protection for high-quality early childhood education.A large number of energetic and novice early childhood teachers are growing rapidly on fertile ground,injecting fresh blood into the cause of early childhood education.Professional identity is the internal perception of the value and meaning of a profession,and new teachers are gradually forming their own professional identity,which will have a decisive impact on their own long-term development and will have a profound impact on their entire careers.There is a growing body of research on teachers’ professional identity,but there is still a lack of research on novice kindergarten teachers.In this study,three novice kindergarten teachers were selected as the subjects of a narrative study.The thesis consists of four main sections.In the first chapter,the background of the topic,the significance of the study and the research design are explained.Based on the literature on teachers’ professional identity at home and abroad,key concepts such as novice kindergarten teachers and teachers’ professional identity are defined,and the structural theory of professional identity,career theory and two-factor theory are interpreted to provide the necessary support for the analysis of the current situation of novice kindergarten teachers’ professional identity.In the second chapter,three novice teachers’ professional identities are described qualitatively,and their stories are described according to the six dimensions of professional identity,in order to analyse the current status of novice teachers’ professional identities.In Chapter 3,based on the accounts of the professional identity of three novice kindergarten teachers,the characteristics and influencing factors of novice kindergarten teachers’ professional identity are analysed,and it is concluded that novice kindergarten teachers’ professional identity is a dynamic developmental process with individual differences and is influenced by various factors.The study analyses the health care and motivational factors according to the two-factor theory.The health care factors include the kindergarten management system,kindergarten environment and salary,while the motivational factors include the training of novice kindergarten teachers,the status of kindergarten teachers and educational beliefs.Chapter 4,based on the health care factors and motivational factors of the two-factor theory,proposes strategies and suggestions to promote novice kindergarten teachers’ professional identity.The health care factors should be improved to stabilise novice kindergarten teachers’ professional identity,and the motivational factors should be sounded to enhance novice kindergarten teachers’ professional identity. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Novice early childhood teachers, Professional identity, Narrative study | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
