| What kind of talents are needed for the development of the times, and what kind of curriculum can cultivate talents that meet the requirements of society,is a hot topic of education widely concerned by all countries, and the cultivation of talents must start from the foundation has become a consensus. In England, the reform of the elementary school curriculum is also of great concern to all walks of life.Out of the desire to cultivate physically and mentally healthy, morally and financially literate citizens,England launched the Personal, social, health and economic education(PSHE)curriculum in 2008 after many attempts and reforms. The curriculum was initially implemented in only a few schools. The curriculum was initially implemented in some schools only, but after nearly a decade of development,it was widely recognized by all sectors of society in England, and in 2019,it gained the status of statutory national curriculum.Since then, the curriculum has been fully implemented in England and Wales, covering three areas: relationship education, health education, and economic education. The curriculum has been reformed and developed over the years, and the system has been improved day by day,and its effects on promoting students’ physical and mental health, forming good interpersonal relationships, and improving financial literacy have gradually emerged.China and the UK have different systems and cultures, but they share the same pursuit of cultivating high quality talents and strengthening the quality of basic education. The Party and the government attach great importance to basic education and have carried out a series of reforms, such as the requirement to effectively develop "students’ core literacy and key competencies" and the "double reduction" in primary and secondary schools.Learning from advanced experiences and failures is conducive to better curriculum reform of basic education in China. The paper uses literature research, comparative research and case study methods to analyze the development, current situation, evaluation and guarantee system of the PSHE curriculum, and finds that the curriculum has the characteristics of privacy, flexibility and linkage, but also objectively recognizes the lack of teachers and teaching resources. In view of the above characteristics and shortcomings,we firstly propose to optimize the teacher team in the context of the current situation of elementary school education in China;secondly,we are committed to exploring the construction of the curriculum through the cooperation of "family, school, and community";then we strengthen the connection with the existing character and health classes in China, and emphasize the concept of collaborative development through the form of class meetings. Finally, some of the contents of the curriculum are applied to our extended service, and it is suggested that the three aspects of demand level, resource guarantee, and supervision standard should be improved. In order to ensure the effectiveness of "double reduction" and improve the quality of extended hours services,we will contribute to the exploration of primary and secondary education in foreign countries. |
