| Aim of the study:Inonotus obliquus(IO)is a fungus in the family Hymenochaetaceae. It is parasitic on birch and other trees. The sterile conk is irregularly formed and resembles burnt charcoal.,mainly distributed in 45°N-50°N north latitude. In China,Japan,Russia and other countries have used IO extract as a folk medicine for 500 years.Studies have shown that IO has antioxidant properties that can relieve physical and mental fatigue.Previous have found that IO can improve exercise performance in mice by scavenged excess reactive free radicals produced after exercise. The purpose of this study was investigate the effects of IO extract on muscle repair,anti-fatigue and oxygen uptake in male college students.Research methods:In this study,a double-blind crossover trial was adopted.Twenty six college male students were randomly divided into the IO group and the control group. Each subject was measured for body composition and exercise tolerance at two time points before supplementation and after 3 weeks supplementation. Each subject underwent venous blood biochemical treatment before exercise, immediately, after, and 90 minutes after exercise. We evaluated biochemical parameters of anti-fatigue activity and injury status. Results:After 3 weeks of supplementation, aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),and creatine kinase(CK)were significantly decreased in the IO group compared with the control group(P<0.05).Serum free fatty acid(FFA)and glucose(GLU)levels increased significantly, lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)decreased significantly 90 minutes after exercise, exercise duration and maximal oxygen uptake(VO2max,m L min-1kg-1)in exercise endurance tests was increased. Conclusions:IO extract improved muscle fatigue after endurance exercise endurance and is used as a nutritional supplement to improve endurance exercise performance of athletic performance in men. |
