Reactive dye ink is the key factor affecting the quality of ink-jet printing. It is widely used in ink-jet printing of cellulose fiber. The additives in the ink play an important role in the cluster structure, jet performance and printing performance of the dye.The interaction between Ethylene Glycol and reactive dyes with different structures was studied, and the effects of Ethylene Glycol on the physical properties and printing effect of reactive dyes were studied. It is of great significance to improve the stability, jet performance and printing effect of the ink.In this paper,Ethylene Glycol as an additive was selected. The effects of dye concentration and Ethylene Glycol on the cluster structure of Reactive Yellow 95,Reactive Blue 15 and Reactive Orange 13 dyes were studied by UV/Vis absorption spectra, electrical conductivity and particle size.By analyzing the effects of Ethylene Glycol on the surface tension, viscosity and moisture retention of the dye solution, the morphology of the ink droplets in the dye solution was controlled. The relationship between the amount of Ethylene Glycol and the definition of the printed color block and the amount of the printed color block was revealed by analyzing the process of the ink drop's seepage and spreading on the textile surface. On this basis, surfactant was used to modify the fabric, the interaction between surfactant and cotton fiber was studied, and the influence of different types of surfactant on the outline clarity and color yield of reactive dye ink was explored. The experimental results show that the aggregation of dye molecules is affected by the concentration of dye and Ethylene Glycol. The higher the concentration of dye was,the stronger the intermolecular hydrophobic force was,and the higher degree of clustering structure was easily formed. After the addition of ethylene glycol,on the one hand, the interaction between dye molecules was weakened due to the dispersion force, hydrogen bond and hydrophobicity of ethylene glycol molecules;on the other hand, ethylene glycol molecules destroyed the iceberg structure around the benzene ring of dye molecules and combined with water molecules through hydrogen bond, thus inhibiting the aggregation of dye molecules,so that the dyestuff disaggregated, the higher the concentration of ethylene glycol was,the more obvious the disaggregation of dye was.The addition of Ethylene Glycol can significantly reduce the surface tension of the dye solution, enhance the viscosity and moisture retention. Therefore, the Droplet formation can be effectively by controlling the amount of Ethylene Glycol. It is found that the addition of Ethylene Glycol can significantly reduce the formation of satellite ink droplets and improve the print quality, but excessive Ethylene Glycol can cause serious infiltration, resulting in the reduction of color block outline clarity and K/S value. On this basis, four different types of surfactants were used to modify the surface of cotton fabrics. The experimental results showed that the hydrophobicity of cotton fibers pretreated with surfactants can be improved,it was found that the cotton fibers pretreated with AEO-3 and DTAC had better contour definition, and the cotton fabrics treated with AEO-3,DTAC and AEO-9 could achieve better K/S value.
