With the rapid development of IoT and communications technologies,we can take remote control of cars through automotive electronic systems by Bluetooth or wireless interface, etc. However, while we enjoy the intelligence of the car,the danger is gradually approaching us,which may cause dangerous operation of the car.It seriously threatens the safety of life and property of drivers and passengers. Therefore, new requirements are imposed on the safety of automotive electronic systems, especially the safety of the vehicle bus in automotive electronic systems. As the most widely used in the vehicle bus,the safety level of Controller Area Network bus may decide the safety level of in-vehicle bus,or even the automotive electronic systems. However, for the CAN bus,the lack of security mechanism makes it easy to be the target of hacking. Therefore,it is imperative to introduce a suitable security service mechanism for the CAN bus protocol. After a security service mechanism is introduced to the CAN bus protocol,it must have some influence in messages transmission. The electronic control unit nodes will have a higher probability for transient error because of the node’s computing limits. The probability of links bit error will also be higher because of the security service in message transmission. Therefore,it is necessary to find a suitable strategy to improve the reliability of the automotive electronic system that introduces security services. In the view of the above problems, this paper proposes a security service protocol suitable for the CAN bus.At the same time,on the premise of introducing the vehicle bus security service,a strategy based on feedback mechanism to enhance the reliability of CAN bus is proposed to achieve the goal of improving the reliability of automotive electronic systems. The main work and research content of this paper includes:1)A security service protocol for in-vehicle controller area network bus is proposed. The protocol SSCAN contains two modules,IAM and EM.IAM uses the public key encryption system and digital signature technology to keep each ECU node in CAN bus reliability during the vehicle start-up phase.EM uses the dynamic password and message digest technology to keep the messages in safety, and can resistance replay attacks by the one-time dynamic password. To assess the SSCAN protocol,a hardware platform of CAN bus is built to simulate some different attack scenarios. The experimental results show that the protocol provides reliable initial authentication and communication security for vehicles and improves the system security service levels. The CAN bus load and messages average latency is also on a reasonable level.2)Proposed a PID-based feedback control scheme that aims at enhancing reliability of CAN bus under timing and system resource constraints.Instead of automatic repeat request method in CAN bus protocol, the forward error control technique is adopted to achieve the required system reliability at a lower deadline miss rate of messages. The experiment result show that this strategy will help the improvement of system reliability.
