In recent years,double C-section steel box columns have been used more and more in engineering,but the existing design codes at home and abroad only specify the section strength and stable bearing capacity of single member and some commonly used composite members,and there is no provision for the stable bearing capacity of double C-section steel box columns.Based on the above situation,this paper studies the stability of double C-section steel box columns with the aid of finite element analysis software ABAQUS.First of all,the establishment process of the finite element model is introduced,and the accuracy of the finite element model and parameter selection is verified by comparing with the previous research results,which provides the basis for later variable parameter analysis.Secondly,45 finite element analysis models are established by ABAQUS software,and the effects of slenderness ratio,width thickness ratio of web,eccentricity direction and eccentricity on the ultimate bearing capacity of double C-shaped steel box section columns are studied.The results show that the ultimate bearing capacity of the member decreases with the increase of slenderness ratio and the increase of width thickness ratio of web;the eccentricity direction and eccentricity also have an impact on the ultimate bearing capacity of the member,among which the influence along the weak axis is significantly greater than that along the strong axis,and the ultimate bearing capacity of the member decreases with the increase of eccentricity,and the instability will occur earlier.Then,by using the effective width method of gb50018 code and AISI code,the results are compared with those of finite element software.It is found that the results of gb50018 code are similar to those of finite element analysis,but there are still some deviations.Finally,by comparing the numerical value of gb50018 code with the numerical value of finite element simulation,the correction coefficient is obtained,and the calculation formula suitable for double C-shaped steel box section column is given.
