Orius sauteri is a kind of omnivorous natural enemy widely used in vegetables. It can effectively control Puncture-sucking pests such as thrips and aphids. In order to use Orius sauteri for biological control in tea gardens, the essential factors for its reproduction and development were screened in laboratory. The main results are as follows:When Leonurus artemisia(Laur.) S.Y.Hu F.,Trifolium repens L.,Viola yedoensis Makino.,Cosmos bipinnata Cav.,Viciavillosa Roth.,Safflower vetch.,Vicia cracca L.,tufted vetch, cow vetch.,Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwiet Ohashi.,Vigna radiata(Linn.)Wilczek.,Arachis hypogaea Linn.,Glycine max(Linn.)Merr.,Ground kidney beans.,Raphanus sativus.Camellia sinensis(L.)O.Ktze.were all ovipositing plants, the reproductive ability, growth ability, life parameters and preference of Orius sauteri were determined in the laboratory. The hatching rate of eggs was more than 85%,and there was no significant difference. The total eggs laid by a single female of Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwi et Ohashi.was 169.33,the most significant. The emergence rate and the trend index of population(I)of Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwi et Ohashi.and Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.was 76.20%and 75.30%,33.48 and 35.46,which were the most significant;respectively, and the Net reproductive rate of Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwi et Ohashi.was 76.74,while the ratio of male to female of Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.was 2.30:1,the innate rate of increase was 0.18 and the finite increase rate was 1.19,the generation survival rate 69.33%,which was the most significant;the mean generation time was 24.08 days, and the double population time was 3.89,which was the least significant.of Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.and Orius sauteris preferred Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.and Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwi et Ohashi. It is concluded that Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.and Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwi et Ohashi.are the most suitable eggs-laying plants for Orius sauteris in tea gardens.,The Orius sauterisselection of three nutrition relationships between plant and plant-eating insect and natural enemy was found:Arachis hypogaea Linn.+Tetranychus cinnabarinus(Boisduval),Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.+aphid nymph,Vigna angularis(Willd.)Ohwi et Ohashi.+aphid nymph system with low mortality, high emergence rate and average number of Orius sauteris.Field simulations showed that at the 7th week of the experiment, the number of Orius sauteris on the Leonurus artemisia(Laur.)S.Y.Hu F.was 88,and the population growth curve was J-shaped;however,the population could not be established on Viola yedoensis Makino.Field trials showed that Dendrothrips minowai Priesners and Empoasca pirisuga Matumuras were the main puncture-sucking pests in tea gardens, and the control effects of Orius sauteris(density 3 head/m~2)on Dendrothrips minowai Priesners and Empoasca pirisuga Matumuras(one month later)were 57.97%and 69.23%.
