A Study Of The Two Jin Dynasty Memorials And Argumentative Essays From The Perspective Of Classics

Memorials to the throne is an important part of ancient Chinese stylistic feature.It is a kind of petition or discussion document presented to the monarch by subjects in ancient China.Ancient Chinese memorials to the throne originated from pre-Qin Dynasty,borned in Qin and Han Dynasty.It records the political,economic,cultural,military,thoughts,ethics,ethnic relations and other aspects of the autocratic monarchy society in ancient China.It is the witness of the rise and fall of Chinese dynasties,with precious historical value.In the Jin Dynasty,quoting from Confucian classics as theoretical source of an opinion or statement became the most common phenomenon in the writing of memorials to the throne.This paper tries to make an exhaustive quantitative statistics of the Five Classics and their Commentaries cited in the memorials of Jin Dynasty,and list them in the table,to showing the specific application of the Classics Study in the memorials of Jin Dynasty clearly.On this basis,the paper summarizes the frequency,mode and main content of the Five Classics and their Commentaries in the memorials of Jin dynasty,then investigateds the social environment behind the memorials and the evolution of the study of Confucian classics.At last,this paper studies the reason and the actual effect of quoting the classics in memorials of Jin Dynasty,in order to fully demonstrate the interaction between the memorials of Jin Dynasty and the study of classics.From this point of view,this paper is divided into five parts:First of all,making a clear definition of the concept about the memorials to the throne.On this basis,according to the historical development process,reviews of the writing of memorials in each period of the Jin Dynasty,analyzies the characteristics of the memorials in each period,combs the overall development context and style changes of the memorials of Jin Dynasty.Secondly,this paper systematically sorts out the references of the five classics and their Commentaries in the memorials of Jin Dynasty,to investigate the differences reflected in the number of cited classics in the Jin Dynasty.Through specific examples,this paper points out the main ways of quoting classics study,reveals the characteristics of quoting classics study,and then analyzes the functions of the five classics and their commentaries in the Jin Dynasty,such like the patriarchal clan system,mourning dress system and marriage system became the core of the discussion of courtiers in the Jin Dynasty.Thirdly,from the perspective of the study of Confucian classics,the memorials of Jin Dynasty presented a concentrated discussion on some issues,such like the patriarchal clan system,mourning dress system and marriage system became the core of the discussion of courtiers in the two dynasties.There has been a great deal of discussion about these issues.Through the elaboration of these problems,this paper reveals the social situation reflected behind them.Fourth,this paper focus on the reasons for quoting the classics in the memorials of Jin Dynasty.The Jin Dynasty was in a turbulent time.The rulers hoped to restore Confucianism to maintain the country and stabilize the society.During periods of slight social stability,efforts were made to restore Confucian education.They bulided The imperial college.Local schools were also thriving.The study of Confucian classics has been recovered and developed in this period.The characteristics of the five classics and their Commentaries make them become the authority of governance.Han Dynasty memorial cited a large number Confucian classics,the Jin Dynasty memorials writing also shows the characteristics of the Han Dynasty.Finally,the paper discusses the influence of the application of the study of classics on the writing of memorial essays and the effect on the development of the study of Confucian classics,so as to show the two-way interaction between the study of Confucian classics and memorial essays in the Jin Dynasty.Quoting from Confucian classics in memorials to the throne makes memorials showing elegant characteristics,and affects the development of Confucian classics itself.This paper studies the specific application of the classics study in the memorials of Jin Dynasty to clarify the influence of the classics study on the spirit of the age and literary creation,In order to have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the two-way interaction between the memorials inJin Dynasty and the classics study.And understand the social content,cultural concept,scholar mentality,political pursuit and academic change reflected behind it.
