"Abnormal" Is Not "abnormal": "A Small Town" Under The Perspective Of Nietzsche

In Winesburg,Ohio by Sherwood Anderson,a group of seemingly grotesques are depicted.This thesis is to analyze such characters and their behaviors from theoretical frame of Nietzsche's Perspectivism whose core proposition is that the world is constructed with different modes of actions and no single explanation could determine its meaning and value.From dimensions of Perspectivism of life and morality,the analysis reveals that the behaviors of the grotesques,townspeople,and George Willard in between turn out to be out of their different interpretations of the world,making the grotesqueness sensible and reasonable.More importantly,those who are fighting against the mainstream authority and breaking conventional taboos prove not to be the grotesques,but rather,the wise,and even the supermen who could stick to their true and creative selves.Such moral enlightenment is also what could be derived from the Perspectivist reading of Winesburg,Ohio.
