A Study Of Johann Neumel's "Song Of The Earth"

The ballet "The song of the Earth" was created in 2015 by Mr.John Neumeier,the current director,artistic director and world-famous choreographer of Hamburg Ballet Company.It was premiered at the Paris Opera House.In the dance,the choreographer integrates dance,music and thoughts and emotions,skillfully designs the movements,and creates a beautiful picture that full of Oriental artistic conception by using the brightly colored stage space,which contains serious thinking about human nature.In addition,he tries to explore the ultimate meaning of life existence through ballet languages,and explains the everlasting cycle relationship between life and death.In the first chapter,the author focuses on the music.Neumeier chose the symphonic "The song of the Earth",which combined the western music and dance with the eastern art of poetry,and endows the dance with an unique Oriental feelings.The second chapter starts with the theme and structure,analyzes the reverence of nature and the deeply thinking about the relationship between life and death.The author attempts to analyze the complex information hidden behind the characters through the relevant theoretical knowledge of psychology.The third chapter starts from the dance movements,summarizes the distinctive artistic style of "The song of the Earth",and explores the unique expression of the body language.In the fourth chapter,the author abstracts four viewpoints,trying to find a new perspective for the creation of Chinese original ballet.The ballet "The song of the Earth" is not only the collision of Chinese and Western artists,but also a bold blend of Eastern and Western cultures.It contains interpretation and exploration of Chinese culture by Western artists,and it is also shows the vigorous development of ballet art.Therefore,the study "The song of the Earth" has a great significance to the creation of Chinese original ballet.
