As an entrance examination of higher education,the College Entrance Examination has direct influences on the future of the examinees,so it has always been the focus of extensive social attention.English is one of the compulsory subjects in it,and listening comprehension test is the main way to measure students' mastery of English in communicative use,and thus its validity is highly valued and highlighted.Of the abundant researches on the validity of English listening test of College Entrance Examination in the academic circle,integrated researches on validity and washback effect are still few and far between.In order to disclose the characteristics of the test validity and the impact of the test on listening teaching and learning,the topic of the study is the analysis of content validity,face validity and washback effect of English listening comprehension of the National Volume ? College Entrance Examination.So this study puts forward three research questions: What are the characteristics of the content validity of National Volume ? on English listening comprehension in 2016-2020? What are the characteristics of the face validity of the English listening comprehension test of National Volume ?? What is the washback effect of the English listening comprehension test of National Volume ??Centered on the above research questions,the study analyzes the English listening comprehension test of National Volume ? in 2016-2020,and investigates215 senior three students and six senior high school English teachers,all from three middle schools in Wanzhou.The theoretical backgrounds are Bachman's task characteristics framework,curriculum standards,teaching outline and exam syllabus.In the process of investigation,text analysis,questionnaire and interview are used and the statistical procedures such as descriptive statistics is employed in the study.The results show that the content validity of National Volume ? on English listening comprehension are gradually improved and the overall test validity generally maintained at a higher level,and its washback effect is also significant and consistent with the validity of test.The characteristics of the test which can be found in the analysis are as follows: in the content validity,both the input characteristics and the expected answer characteristics are more in line with the requirements of the curriculum standards and the exam syllabus.In the topics of the listening materials,the development of human being and society has been emphasized,and students' knowledge and understanding of human and nature have been more valued.In addition,the examination of simple inference skills of information has been strengthened,which reflects the emphasis on the cultivation of students' logical reasoning ability.But in the recent five years,the listening comprehension part of the relationship between the input and the expected response shows that there are fewer broad-type questions and the proportion of narrow-type questions is relatively increased,which indicates that the difficulty coefficient of the test questions in the recent five years has been reduced,which,however,is not conducive to determining examinees' English listening proficiency;in the face validity,the satisfaction of test instructions,text-related variables and speaker-related variables are relatively high,which indicates that the subjects have an overall good attitude towards the English listening test;in the washback validity,seen wholly,the listening comprehension test of National Volume ? has more positive effect than negative effect on English teaching and learning.The former is reflected in students' learning motivation,goal and behavior as well as teachers' listening teaching,the latter,in the choice of teaching content.Therefore,some suggestions are given for reference: first of all,the contents of topic for instruction should be constantly updated and enriched,the consistency of difficulty,length and speed of discourse retained,the validity of test questions improved,the existing listening comprehension questions reformed to increase the proportion of subjective-type questions.In addition,English teachers should update teaching ideas to promote students' learning,undertake an in-depth study of the curriculum standards,be kept informed of the new trends of College Entrance Examination,combine traditional teaching methods with multi-modal ways to improve listening and speaking ability,provide some listening strategy guidance and exam-taking psychological counseling.At last,students need to lay a solid foundation of English vocabularies,learn to think what to do and how to do,and combine listening and speaking with practice every day.
