The English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition)demands higher requirements for the professional quality and teaching ability of junior school English teachers.English novice teachers tend to confront the difficulties of heavy teaching tasks, great teaching pressure and limited professional development. As one of the important ways to promote professional growth of teachers and realize effective teaching, teaching reflection can help novice teachers out of these difficulties and promote their professional development. Therefore, this study investigated the current situation of teaching reflection of junior school English novice teachers in Wanzhou District,in order to analyze their deficiencies and influencing factors in teaching reflections, and provide some suggestions for optimizing their teaching reflections and accelerating their professional development. This study investigated the current teaching situation of 46 novice teachers in 10 schools in Wanzhou District, and also studied the situation of 4 teachers in 4 schools by interview method and practicality research in terms of teacher's theoretical knowledge of teaching reflection, reflection awareness and practice, reflection methods, reflection contents, reflection effects, and reasons and influencing factors of reflection. It indicated that although they have certain theoretical knowledge of teaching reflection and show a positive attitude towards it,novice teachers are insufficient in teaching reflection in the following aspects:(1)Novice teachers' theoretical knowledge of teaching reflection are not very solid and and they are not interested in teacher's development.(2)They are incapable of implementing teaching reflection into teaching practice.(3)They preferred to informal reflection and have not formed the habit of written reflection.(4)Novice teachers reflection attend to concentrate on teaching contents and methods,so their reflection contents are not comprehensive enough.(5)The reasons for novice teachers' teaching reflection are mostly external factors, instead of internal factors.(6)The effects of novice teachers teaching reflection are incline to be unsatisfied and quite different among teachers.Based on the data of this investigation, the reasons for their deficiencies in teaching reflection can attribute to the following two aspects.(1)As to novices teachers themselves,it is difficult for them to carry out teaching reflection due to the lack of a good command of theoretical knowledge of reflection. Also due to the lack of ambitions about self-development,they are unwilling to persist in teaching reflection.(2)There are also some external reasons.Novice teachers shoulder heavy teaching tasks and great teaching pressure, consequently, they are busy in teaching and pay little attention to teaching refection.Generally speaking, there are no strict teaching stipulations. Therefore, this paper puts forward some suggestions respectively for both novice teachers and schools on how to carry out teaching reflection.(1)For the novices teachers themselves,it's essential for them to enrich their own theoretical knowledge and enhance their awareness of teaching reflection. They should attach great importance to reflection and spend more time on it so as to cultivate their habits of reflection. While reflecting, they should vary their teaching reflection methods and widen their reflection contents.(2)For the schools, the school should perfect the management system, standardize the teaching reflection and bring it into the teacher assessment and evaluation system. In addition, the reflective English teaching team should be constructed to offer the related training and guidance to novice teachers.
