| George Crumb is an American avant-garde composer in the 20th century,his music creation involves chamber music,instrumental music and vocal music,among which chamber music plays an important role.This paper will take his representative work "Makrokosmos Ⅲ" as the research object,from the perspective of composition techniques to analyze pitch organization,structure,new timbre,rhythm and speed.Summarize the characteristics and style of Crumb’s music creation.This paper is divided into four chapters: the first chapter is an overview of Crumb’s life and music creation,introduces Crumb’s growth background and learning experience,divides his music creation into three periods and introduces the representative works of each period.Then discusses the creation background of this work combined with Crumb’s introduction to "Makrokosmos Ⅲ".The second chapter is the core part of the paper,analyze the pitch materials in "Makrokosmos Ⅲ" using the theory of pitch-class sets in the post-tonal theory,and analyzes the pitch materials in each movement from two aspects:pitch layout and pitch structure.Summarizes its common characteristics in pitch structure.The third chapter analyzes the overall structure of the five movements in the "Makrokosmos Ⅲ",and discusses the important role of texture,rhythm,speed and strength in dividing the structure.Finally,the five movements are classified according to the structural characteristics,and then summarize the correlation between each movement in pitch material and structure from the macro to micro point of view.The fourth chapter analyzes the overall creation of "Makrokosmos Ⅲ" from the aspects of rhythm,strength,playing method,special musical instruments and the use of human voice.It focuses on the analysis of Crumb’s techniques in shaping new timbre,and summarizes its important role in musical expression. |
