Self-processing Advantage Of Negative Emotional Information: Evidence From ERP

Self-processing advantage means that the individual's cognitive system has better processing speed and memory effect on self-related information than other information.The researchers verify that non-emotional information has self-processing advantage through self-name and own items.As for emotional information,the self-processing advantages in different valence emotional information,but the self-processing advantage of negative emotional information is weaker than that of positive and neutral.Therefore,I uses ERP to explore the self-processing advantages of negative emotional information and introduces the oriented forgetting paradigm to discuss whether the individual can intentionally forget the negative emotional information with self-processing advantages.By using the learning re-recognition paradigm and the item-directed-forgotten paradigm,40 college students and graduate students were selected to conduct two experiments.Experiment1 used 3(emotional valence: negative,neutral,positive)×2(task type: preference task,common task).The purpose of this study was to verify the self-processing advantage of different titer emotional information,and to analyze the self-processing advantage of negative emotional information;experiment 2 used 3(emotional valence: negative,neutral,positive)×2(task type:preference task,common task)×2(clue hint: memory,forgetting)in-subject experimental design to explore the change of self-processing advantage of different emotional valence under directed forgetting paradigm.In the two experiments,the dependent variables of the behavior data recorded the correct rate of keystroke judgment,the response time and the EEG data at different stages.The results of experiment 1 showed that the correct rate of self-processing items was higher and the reaction time was faster.Under the condition of self-processing,the correct rate of negative emotional information was significantly lower than that of positive and neutral emotional information;Self-processing items can induce significant N170,negative emotional information to induce more significant LPC.The results of experiment 2 showed that under the condition of positive and neutral emotional information,self-processing items induced more significant LPC,non-self-processing items under negative emotional information induced more significant N2,memory clues induced more significant P3.under negative emotional informationThis study concluded that:(1)There are self-processing advantages in different titer emotional information,and the self-processing advantage of negative emotional information is weaker than that of positive and neutral emotional information;(2)Directed forgetting can not weaken the self-processing advantage of negative emotional information,positive and neutral emotional information can occur directional forgetting;(3)Selective rehearsal theory can explain the directional forgetting of positive and neutral emotional information.The theory of inhibition control can better explain the directional forgetting of negative emotional information.
