Men Like Gods, written by H.G.Well,is a classic Utopian novel, which has profound utopian connotations.Based on close reading of the text, this thesis uses the principle of binary opposition to interpret Men Like Gods systematically, and then analyze the differences of modern Britain and the Utopia from science and technology, politics and ecology.Firstly, the thesis explains the theoretical origins and the background of the creation of Men Like Gods, and discusses the author's reasons for creating the novel from theoretical and historical reasons.Secondly,in order to compare the modern British society and the Utopia,it analyzes the differences in science and technology, politics and ecology, and then criticizes the profound problems existing in the modern British civilization,in addition, points out the solutions with Utopia as the blueprint. Finally, the profound utopian connotation of the novel is explained, which mainly embodies the thought of Scientific Rationalism,World Community,Anthropocentrism and Non-Individual-Centrism.Therefore,it shows Well's philosophy and hope for the future human society. On the one hand, the study of the utopian thought of the novel extends the depth of the domestic study of Wells' utopian thought;on the other hand,it also broadens the perspective of the domestic study of Wells.
