From the perspective of Chinese traditional aesthetic,this dissertation discusses how people in ancient China recognized and understood the time,how to deal with this problem according to Zhou yi,and how can it developed into an important root of Chinese aesthetic spirit.As a source of Chinese traditional culture and philosophy,Zhou yi plays an important part in developing a thinking-model of Chinese philosophy and aesthetic,and the view of time in Zhou yi is a dimension that can't be ignored.Zhou yi demonstrates its unique view of time by its concepts as “Xiang”,“Shu” and “Ying-yang”,which are meaningful in remaining the dynamic understanding of time.This understanding had not make the time idea to conceptualization or abstraction,on the contrary,highly restored time to original state,thus pointed to emotional experience and true existence of human.From the perspective of aesthetics,there are three features being emphasized on the view of time in Zhou yi in this dissertation,as “Sheng”,“Bian” and “Zhong-he”,which are the reflection of aesthetic trend in light of the context.In Zhou yi,time begains in“Qian-yuan”,and shows the vigor and beauty of live through the rotative and perpetual circulation of creation and transformation.As a core concept of Zhou yi,“Bian”contains beauty of rhythm in the process of the mutual induction in the Ying-qi and Yang-qi.Meanwhile,in humanistic realm,“Zhong-he” embody that human must cultivate virtuet and achieve success in order to reach a highest level of harmony with“Dao”.The view of time in Zhou yi had a profound effect on Chinese aesthetics.The aesthetic features it appears permeated into the veins of ancient Chinese aesthetic spirit,acted on the development of Chinese traditional aesthetics as a thinking-model,and formed the cultural core of Chinese aesthetics of advocating “Sheng”,“Bian”,“De”.How this effect happened and how can the concept of time surpassed its original meaning are the ultimate direction of this dissertation,so trying to explore the time concept of Zhou yi in this context is significant.
