Agamben's "potential Theory" Research

The Italian thinker Giorgio Agamben became famous for his biopolitical theory.But if we carry out a further in-depth analysis of this,we will find that the important source of this biopolitical aesthetics ontology is the theory of “potentiality”.Potentiality has permeated Agamben’s academic thinking since his first book "The Man Without Content".Agamben’s potentiality means both "potential" and "potential".The former aims to unearth a kind of "non-potentiality" which begins with art and is possessed by human beings,but is now falling into decline.This is the only pure potentiality that can fundamentally break through the original structure.The form-of-life,the coming Messiah and the new community are eagerly waiting for it to be realized.The latter points to the supreme sovereignty hidden in the structure of the State of Exception,inside and outside the law.Taking art as an example,Agamben combines literary aesthetics with life politics.By analyzing the entangled relationship between artistic mechanism and biopolitics,he tries to escape the predicament of biopolitics.This paper plans to start with the above findings and is divided into three chapters.The beginning and the end are the introduction and conclusion,which comprehensively excavate,summarize and analyze Agamben’s "potentiality" theory and related important theories.In the introduction,the author mainly explains the significance of the selected topic and related research progress,and discusses the translation of the core concept potentiality.The first chapter combs Agamben’s "potentiality ontology" developed from Aristotle’s theory of potential from the philosophical and aesthetic levels.Through the use of art as a typical example,in this chapter I combine his earlier works to show " The pure power of "potential".In Chapter 2,we return to Agamben’s home field of biopolitics to discuss the theory of "potential".Potentiality is not only a potential capacity,but also a potential state.This chapter is still based on the deep priority relationship between potentiality(potency)and reality(realization).By contrasting with Schmidt’s false exceptions and introducing Benjamin’s true exceptional state,the author makes a specific analysis of the potential of the sacred man and sovereignty in the state of exception.The third chapter mainly discusses how potentiality can help people get rid of the predicament of biopolitics from the three aspects of form-of-life developed from pure potential,coming politics and messianism.The conclusion summarizes the full text,discusses the significance and reflection of Agamben’s biopolitical aesthetics,and evaluates the conservativeness and limitations of the "potentiality".
