This paper selects a representative aria in the opera to analyze the music creation and story development,and to understand Glinka’s music creation style and music expression thought layer by layer.A comprehensive analysis profound social effects caused bye heroic opera led by Glinka at that time.Glinka was an important Russian composer half of the 19 th century,as well as the founder of Russian national opera and symphony.His musical compositions are rich in content and varied in form,including opera,symphony,chamber music and romances.His music works borrowed a lot of Russian folk music materials,full of love for his country,the people and the nature of Russia,with full patriotism enthusiasm,really opened up a new era of the development of Russian folk music.Later generations respected as the "father of Russian music".Glinka composed only two opera works in his lifetime,among which Ivan Susanin was the first patriotic opera composed with Russian folk music.The opera shows glinka’s rich folk music writing skills and highlights his deep patriotism.Ivan Susanin is the beginning of the creation of Russian national opera.It is dubbed as the "dawn of Russian opera" and has been highly praised in all aspects of its music creation and performance.I am sad,I suffer is one of the lyric arias with strong Russian national style characteristics.
