Willa Cather(December 7,1873-April 24,1947)was a "pioneer" of 20th-century American national literature. She wrote dozens of middle and long form novels and numerous short stories, and her work is an integral part of America's pioneering history.Under her pen Nebraska became a grand geographical narrative space, from this Cather wrote a series of pioneering novels reflecting on issues such as overseas migration and the "Americanization" of Indians. Her thoughts are fully reflected in her works and have far-reaching significance. This paper will use the theory of literary geography, starting from the regional, historical and cultural aspects to analyze Willa Cather's pioneering novels from the following four aspects: Firstly,we analyze the natural landscape in Willa Cather's pioneering novels, mainly to explore the recurring natural imagery in her works;Secondly,we analyze the literary imagery that Cather creates in her works and the symbolic significance of these literary images;Thirdly,we analyze the cultural elements in Cather's work, which is also her unique concern for the pioneers. We can find that Cather pays attention to the cultural diversity embedded in their different ethnic backgrounds;Fourthly,by summarizing the specific characteristics of natural imagery, literary imagery, and cultural elements,we analyze the spatial narratives created by the overlapping urban and rural areas, and Willa Cather's thoughts on the issue of "Americanization"Starting from the perspective of literary geography and analyzing the value and significance of regional writing in her works,we can have a deeper inspiration, which is also a new revelation for the development of diverse cultures nowadays.Nebraska under Willa Cather's writing gives us an imaginative space and allows us to have more interpretations of the topographic novel.
