Learning and understanding the concepts of some subject make great significance to promote the development of students' cognition,so the degree of understanding the concepts of the students has become one of the important indicators of students'chemistry knowledge level.In order to better evaluate and improve students'understanding ability of chemistry concepts,and systematically study the components and development of the ability of understanding concepts,we make an empirical study on the ability of understanding concepts in senior high school with the context of chemistry.Firstly,based on relevant literature,we combine the theory with the knowledge of electrochemistry in senior high school,construct a framework for senior high school students which shows the progress of understanding the concept of electrochemistry.And the behavior of different ability levels is also defined in this framework.Then,according to the framework we constructed,we developed the measurement tools to test the students' understanding ability of electrochemical concepts of the second and third grades in senior high school.In order to develop the tools,we referring to the mature scale from domestic and foreign researches,and we amend the tool based on Rasch measurement model,combined with the "four cornerstone" measurement framework.And then we adopted the I-CVI content validity method to ensure the higher effectiveness of the measurement tools.We did two trials and one formal test.In the first trial test,we use the random selection method to select the numbers for the sample.The method of stratified sampling was used in the second and the formal test.In the last formal test,we select 146 students from a senior high school in Xi 'an city.In the stage of data process,Winsteps software is mainly used to check the quality of measurement tools.When we get the measurement tools with high reliability and validity,we use the SPSS software to describe the overall response from the sample,and conduct a difference analysis of the performance from the students in different grades.The results show that,the students we tested show the good ability of understanding the concepts of electrochemistry,which can reach the level of qualitative analysis about the ability of understanding concepts of electrochemistry.However,there are significant differences in the concepts understanding ability among senior high school students in the second year and third year.Students in third year with higher ability than students in second year.Based on the above results,we carried out further qualitative research to study students' learning of electrochemical concepts,we interview the teachers and students in high school,the answers from teachers have shown the importance of students' concepts comprehension,and the teaching strategies and new ideas in teaching electrochemistry in senior high school;well the answers from students have shown the whole situation of electrochemical concept learning.So based on the results all above,this study gives some suggestions for students to learn the conceptual knowledge of electrochemistry,and then prospects for future research from the aspects such as expanding samples,developing and improving the framework.
