Despite great progress in the prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer,it is still a common disease that poses a serious threat to human health. In most countries, cancer has become the first or second cause of death for people under the age of 70.Cancer patients not only bear physical pain, but also bear the psychological and economic burden brought by the disease. Therefore,it is an important topic for health practitioners to pay attention to the health needs, psychological needs and social needs of cancer patients and improve their quality of life.Medical social work is a specialized social work practice that conducts the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral abnormalities, and helps clients recover, maintain or improve biological, psychological, spiritual and social functions. It is the fastest growing field of social work.Living with a life-threatening disease, cancer patients are often accompanied by psychological and spiritual defects in addition to physical symptoms, which is consistent with the service content of medical social work.At present, medical social work in the field of cancer in China pays more attention to hospice care and solving various difficulties encountered by cancer patients, family members and caregivers through group work, and pays less attention to changes in the quality of life of cancer patients.Case studies, especially those based on multi-dimensional social work practice, are rare. This paper takes a breast cancer patient in the pain ward of the inpatient department of J Provincial Cancer Hospital as the research object, and adopts the social work method of case work to intervene her.First of all,the medical social worker took the form of unstructured interview to understand her personal information, family situation and social relationship network.Based on the analysis of medical records and interview content,it was concluded that the client needed to improve her depression and remove her self-isolation at the emotional level. At the cognitive level,it is necessary to correctly recognize cancer and regain confidence in her life;at the physical level, pain needs to be alleviated and quality of life needs to be improved; At the level of social support, members of her family need to strengthen intercommunication and strengthen social support. Therefore,by reviewing previous literature on social work intervention in tumor patients, combined with the client's personal needs, this study carried out case intervention in a comprehensive way, using methods of health education, cognitive remodeling, relaxation training,MBSR,narrative therapy, social support network construction. At the same time,in order to prove the effectiveness of case intervention,EORTC QLQ-C30 quality of life scale was used to conduct a questionnaire survey before and after the client received intervention. The results showed that after intervention, the overall health status, physical function, role function and emotional function of the client were significantly improved, pain and other symptoms were relieved, and the quality of life was improved, indicating the feasibility of multi-dimensional medical social work intervention in improving the quality of life of cancer patients.
