Daily Image Presentation Of Chinese People In Overseas Media From The Of Multi-Modal Discourse

With the continuous improvement of China's international social status,how does the world's largest news agency present the daily image of the Chinese through the reporting of news pictures? Because Western society does not understand the daily living conditions of Chinese people,and the "others" constructed by the media have caused Westerners to have cognitive deviations about Chinese people in their daily lives.This article uses the Associated Press China Daily News Photos as a study Subject,to investigate how the Associated Press has made the “other” representation and characteristics of the Chinese daily image.This article uses the multi-modal discourse theory framework to analyze the pictures of Associated Press 's Chinese daily life,and selects 494 news pictures of the Associated Press 's section of“Chinese daily life“ 2010 to 2019.How does the image of the Chinese people become other people? Summarize the existence of the life of ordinary Chinese people in the Associated Press "others".Summarize the characteristics of the Chinese people in this type of news pictures.In the research process,this article first combines the characteristics of the sample and the multi-modal discourse theory framework to construct categories,respectively,on the Chinese people 's action process,reaction process,classification process,symbolic process,The social distances and viewpoints were investigated and analyzed.The first two categories mainly summarized the attitudes of the Chinese people in the Associated Press by examining the state of action in the daily life of the Chinese people.the classification process and symbolic process refer to the Associated Press.The presentation method of news pictures and the symbols were selected in the process of taking pictures;the social distance and viewpoint reflect how the Associated Press constructed the transmission and reception relationship in such reports;in addition,the study also investigated the gender of Chinese people in such pictures,age,occupational characteristics,and analyze which types of groups tend to be presented in picture reports.Based on the above research process,Chapter 1 of this article explains the background and significance of the research,and combs the existing relevant literature to clarify the theoretical basis;in Chapter 2 the category construction and its reasons are explained and based on indicators Pre-analysis,and described sample analysis date based on demographic categories;Chapter 3 of this article analyzes and describes the data obtained from the statistical analysis of the sample of reproducible categories;Chapter 4 analyzes the interactive meaning data presented by the daily image of the Chinese;Chapter 5 summarizes the daily image of Chinese people based on the data analysis in chapters 2,chapters 3,and chapters 4,and discusses the reasons why the Associated Press presents the Chinese image through news pictures.Finally,it proposes the enlightenment brought by this research.Based on the multi-modal theoretical framework,this study analyzes the Chinese daily news pictures of the Associated Press.The study found that,from the emotional perspective,The Associated Press based on such news photo reports presents the image of a blindly confident,xenophobic,hollow heart and equal Chinese.Culturally,the report presents a daily image of Chinese people with low education,low innovation ability,and a love for traditional culture.from prespective of life,News pictures present the image of Chinese people who attach importance to family in daily life.Economically,Chinese People's daily image is poor,lack of material life and good at manual labor.The Associated Press' s shaping of the Chinese's daily image has been influenced by media ethics,political economy,and ideological factors.From the perspective of media ethics,although news professionalism has affected media operations,the Associated Press The daily image still exists positively,such as the love of traditional culture and the importance of family,but in other aspects,it still interprets the selected reporting elements in its original position and media framework.From a political and economic perspective,the development of the Chinese economy and the improvement of the international community threaten the status of some Western countries,In order to achieve the purpose of curbing the rise of China,some Western countries have formulated relevant policies,and these policies have been reported to the Associated Press through reports.The image of the Chinese has an influence.From the perspective of ideological level,the Chinese image has never been rid of the West's presentation because of the shackles of Western European ethnocentrism.In order to counter the advancement and development of Western civilization,the daily image of the Chinese has always been presented presented the image of another constructed by western countries,which has not developed of the image of Chinese.The Associated Press' s report on the daily image of the Chinese still continues the post-Cold War thinking.Faced with the complex communication environment and the current development of media technology,the author proposes coping strategies: firstly,it pays attention to the communication of the Chinese daily image;secondly,it makes good use of social media platforms;finally,it softens the way of communication.
