With the birth and rapid development of computer network,the Internet has gradually integrated into all aspects of human society.More and more computers and other types of devices get access to the Internet,and IP address is facing the exhaustion problem.Furthermore,the fixed-design protocol header makes IP protocols not flexible enough to meet various types of communication requirements.The research on Flexible IP addressing scheme aims at making the network have fully extensibility,unlimited address space and flexible address fields through innovative network architecture and addressing scheme,and makes the network have the ability to unify heterogeneous networks.Different from the flat Internet architecture nowadays,this thesis firstly proposes a hierarchical network architecture as well as a network domain division and identification method in the research of Flexible IP addressing scheme.Secondly,an addressing scheme is proposed based on the hierarchical network architecture,and the multi-label hierarchical address is used as the network address,which solves the problem of limited address space in traditional IP protocol.Thirdly,the thesis proposes two flexible control methods for the address field,which are flexible packet forwarding and flexible address configuration.They take the advantage of hierarchical network architecture and the status information of routers,and shorten the length of embedded address.They reduce the requirements of device address configuration,improve the flexibility of address field,and help to unify heterogeneous networks at the network layer.The Flexible IP prototype system is a network prototype system whose main purpose is scheme verification,including control subsystem and forwarding subsystem.This thesis designs and implements the control subsystem.The control subsystem is developed based on BIRD.It exchanges and maintains routing information,calculates and generates routing entries for query by the forwarding subsystem,and provides support for the correct forwarding of data packets in the network.The thesis also proposes a routing information interaction principle,a routing table structure and its general table look-up method suitable for Flexible IP addressing scheme.The thesis firstly introduces some related work,then describes the research of Flexible IP addressing scheme in detail,and analyzes the requirements of the control subsystem of the Flexible IP prototype system.The overall architecture of the prototype system and the overall design of control subsystem are proposed.Then,the design and implementation of the control subsystem are introduced in detail.The system tests verify the design scheme and system functions.In the end,the thesis is summarized,and the current shortcomings of the system and future work are given.Also,the summary of work and research progress during master degree study are described.
