| Disney collects princess stories around the world, creating a collection of "Disney Princesses" that gathers global traffic. From 1937 to 2020,Disney released a total of 13 animated princess movies and 5 live-action princess movies. On the one hand, these movies reflect the different expectations of women in different historical periods, and on the other hand, they are constantly writing and reshaping the words of women.,Reassess the relationship between the sexes. What kind of female characters have been portrayed by "Disney Princess",what female standards have been reflected, what changes have taken place in these roles and standards over the past 80 years, and what are the social motivations behind the changes? This article attempts to study.Based on Norman Fairclough’s discourse analysis framework, this thesis analyzes the symbolic construction and narrative logic of Disney Princesses from three levels:text, discourse practice and social practice. At the text level, using semiotics and narrative theories, compared with the 7 characters and 31 functional items analyzed by Propp structuralist narrative,it explores the character symbols and narrative structure of Disney Princess movies.Discourse practice explores women’s discourse, racial discourse, and business discourse,as well as the mutual penetration and mutual reflection of the three.Social practice, from a diachronic perspective, interprets the relationship between Disney princess discourse and social political and cultural factors.According to research findings,in the text, the Disney princess symbol is gradually liberated from the settings of "oppressed","bereavement of parents",and "relying on men",and has experienced a change from "love" to "true affection" and "passive" to"active".",the process of changing from "wife" to "queen".The narrative structure of the princess story has become more complex and interlocking, and the narrative theme has developed from a romantic story to highlighting "adventure elements";the many changes in symbols and narrative features reflect the gender discourse, racial discourse and commercial discourse of Disney princesses These discourses are influenced by the social and political movements and commercial interests in the 80-year history of development. The role evolution of the princess is actually a lagging response to the feminist movement and the correct requirements of race;Disney princesses have made breakthroughs in all aspects. In line with our traditional cognition, many changes are still deliberately made by Disney for the sake of commercial interests and values. It is an important measure of its global commercial communication strategy. The universal values and American spirit embedded in the Disney Princess story text are not change. |
